In a long line of Hollywood not being able to come up with an original idea, the movie made famous by Patrick Swayze as a bouncer, Road House is getting a remake by Fast & The Furious director Rob Cohen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Rob Cohen, who directed the first Fast & The Furious movie, and XXX has been tapped by MGM to direct.

The original told the story of Swayze, a well-known bouncer, who was brought into a small town bar, the Double Deuce, to help clean it up and get it back on its feet. A man who owns many of the buildings and businesses in town tries to stop him. The movie, right before the 1990 blockbuster Ghost, was one of Swayze’s biggest hits.

The Wrap reports Michael Stokes is writing the script for the remake. With lower budget and kids programming under his writing and director belt, Stokes also wrote Crash Bandits, another film Cohen has been developing as director.

MGM’s Director of Development Matt Dines will be overseeing the project. Dines has also been overseeing the reboot of the 1956 classic The Shrinking Man.
