Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and Nick Kroll have been cast to star in the independent dramedy Brother's Keeper.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed the casting news for the indie film. Mark and Jay Duplass will executive produce Brother's Keeper, while Lost in Translation producer Ross Katz is set to direct the movie. Jeff Cox and Liz Flahive wrote the script based off an idea of theirs with Kroll.
Kroll is set to play a self-centered entrepreneur that comes apart just as his company is about to start. He moves in with his sister and brother-in-law, played by Byrne and Cannavale, and becomes their nanny.
The Duplass brothers have had success with independent movies as of late, being involved in several films, including Jeff, Who Lives at Home, Bad Milo and Safety Not Guaranteed. Kroll has worked with Mark Duplass with their FXX show The League.
Bryne has starred in Damages on TV and in the films Insidious: Chapter 2 and Neighbors, which is out May 9, 2014 and also stars Zac Efron and Seth Rogen. Cannavale will be appearing in the Annie remake and won an Emmy for Boardwalk Empire.
HitFix reports that Kroll will also be hosting the Gotham Independent Film Awards. The show is in New York City on Dec. 2. IFP's Joana Vicente said in a press release, "We are so thrilled that Nick Kroll will be hosting the Gotham Awards this year."
Vicente continued, "Coming off an exciting year with a new Comedy Central series, and winning the Just for Laugh's Breakout Comedy Star of the Year award, his humor and talent are sure to make the Gotham's one of the most entertaining awards shows of the season."
