Miles Scott wants to be Batkid and the city of San Francisco is going to make sure that happens. The five-year-old leukemia patient is going to be in the city on Friday and will be in for a surprise. The city is transforming into Gotham City just for the Batman fan in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Miles was diagnosed with leukemia when he was just 18 months old and thankfully it is in remission. He loves Batman because, as he told ABC affiliate KGO, “he's my favorite super hero.” His parents have told him that he’s traveling from Tulelake, Calif. to San Francisco just to get a new Batman costume and that will happen, but the Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area foundation has much more in store.

“We come from a very small town, 1,000 people, where it's nothing like this,” his father, Nick Scott, told the station. “The scale this big is just overwhelming for us. It's nothing we ever dreamed of.”

It turns out that even the charity is surprised by how the city has got together for this little boy to make his dream come true.

“We knew a superhero wish would be really cool, but it's kind of surreal to see what's happened," Patricia Wilson, executive director of the Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area chapter, told Mercury News. “Receiving a wish is a life-transforming experience for any child, and it's apparently the case for everyone who wants to be involved in this wish.”

According to USA Today, people on Twitter are showing their support with the hashtag #SFBatkid. Even San Francisco icons like Joe Montana and both the 49ers and Giants have tweeted about Miles. The San Francisco Chronicle is even running the headline “Batkid Saves The Day,” with 1,000 copies being printed.

Miles’ Friday started by rescuing the Giants mascot and stopping a bank robbery. He will eventually get to City Hall, where Mayor Ed Lee will give him the key to the city.
