A sequel for Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life is now in the works between Star Partners and Hummingbird Prods.

According to Variety, who first reported the news, the movie is titled It's A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story. The movie will also feature George Bailey's daughter, Karolyn Grimes, as an angel.

The movie will follow a similar line to the original with an angel talking with George Bailey, who is the grandson of the original George Bailey. Only this time, the angel, who will be played by Grimes, shows Bailey how much better off everyone would be if he had never been born, since he's so unlikeable.

Bob Farnsworth, who is producing through Hummingbird, and Martha Bolton wrote the screenplay for the sequel. Farnsworth said in a statement, "The storyline of the new film retains the spirit of the original -- every life is important as long as you have friends."

The hope is to have the movie ready in time for the 2015 holiday season and the film will have a $25 million to $35 million budget.

According to The Huffington Post, the original, Jimmy Stewart-led It's a Wonderful Life was not well received by audiences, though did get nominated for several Oscars. The film only made $3.3 million during its initial release. Over time the film has become quite beloved and a holiday staple.

The American Film Institute labeled the movie the 20th best film of all time in 2007.
