Steven Tyler has kept himself busy recently playing a star-studded event at the Sunset Marquis to help celebrate its 50th Anniversary, and starting work on his solo album. He also just wrapped a world tour with his band Aerosmith, and performed an abbreviated version of “Dream On” at the Miss Universe Pageant in Russia.
Variety reported at the Sunset Marquis 50th Anniversary celebration, Tyler sang with Julian Lennon. Other musicians spotted were The Door’s guitarist Robby Krieger and Lemonhead’s Evan Dando sitting in with cover band Bitch. The Sunset Marquis is a legendary music hotspot that played host to artists such as the Rolling Stones, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, U2 and hundreds of others have called the hotel home during their stints in Los Angeles.
Tyler opened up to Rolling Stone at the event and stated that he’s currently working on a solo album, which he’s hoping to land Rick Rubin to be a part of.
The legendary producer, who has worked with everyone from Johnny Cash to Black Sabbath, was behind the idea of bringing Tyler and Joe Perry to play with Run D.M.C. on a cover of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way”. There has been no confirmation yet though that Rubin and Tyler are actually working together.
