Taylor Swift is one of the largest music superstars in the world. Her Red tour sold out within minutes across multiple continents. Red is one of the best selling albums of 2013 and to top it all off Swift was a winner at the 2013 Country Music Awards and got to showcase her unique ability to take an already popular hit and make it even better.

Swift was honored at the awards with the Pinnacle award by some of the largest stars in country music, along with taking home a few awards but what really stood out was Swift’s signature red lipstick and her performance of “Red,” during the CMAs. The performance featured Allison Krauss and Vince Gill. The single was slowed down and performed acoustically. Krauss and Gill truly amplified to the performance by adding in different vocal sounds, which highlighted Swift’s well-known voice.

Swift has range, vocal talent and songwriting ability which is a few of the reasons why she is known across the world. This performance highlighted all three of those talents and showed that Swift is fully integrated into both the country and pop music world. Swift was criticized when Red was released for being too pop but this stripped down acoustic performance with some of country’s biggest names proved that Swift knows no musical boundaries and focuses on the performance at hand.

After the single was released on iTunes it almost instantly shot into the top ten and is currently holding strong at number six.
