Marvel's newest release Thor: The Dark World put the competition to shame this weekend, raking in $86 million. While it's not quite the impressive haul Thor's avenging partner in crime Iron Man took in over its weekend gross, it's still safe to say that Marvel and Disney won't have any troubles paying the bills this month.
According to Empire the newest outing with the blonde god of thunder didn't have much in the way of competition, with no other wide release set against it Thor: The Dark World enjoyed all the attention and money it could get. Garnering favorable reviews from critics and audiences alike, it's a safe bet that it'll hold up in the following weeks.
Thor: The Dark World decimated all those standing in its way, second place going to Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa at $11 million. The real shocking is seeing last weeks winner Ender's Game falling back to fifth place after only a week, likely due to poor word of mouth. With no big tent-pole releases coming out, expect to see Thor staying strong on top.
