Three heroes are poised to set the silver screen ablaze in coming months. One via a reboot, one via animation and one via good old fashioned ancient do or die action. The beginning months of 2014 are looking to be a bevy of eye candy both computer animated and real as three champions will be coming to life in a theater near you!
The boy turned man who grew up in the jungle is due to grace the silver screen yet again via animation. Tarzan set to open in theaters early next year, is an animated tale about the boy, who grew up among animals in the jungle, but grew up to be a man who falls in love and learns about where he really came from. Judging from the trailer, this animated version is slightly different than the 1999 animated take.
This new account seems to be filled with more adult issues and much more action. Of course, Tarzan and Jane meet and fall in love but there seems to be an added sinister element looking to take over Tarzan’s jungle home and viewers might learn more about Tarzan’s parents than in other movies about the jungle man. Tarzan is voiced by Kellan Lutz, known for his appearances in the Twilight saga movies and Spencer Locke, known for her role as ‘K-Mart’ in the 2007 and 2010 installments of the Resident Evil movie franchise, voices Jane Porter. In addition, Brian Bloom, Jamie Ray Neuman and Trevor St. John lend their voices to supporting characters in the film. In my opinion, this Tarzan looks to be filled with adventure, wildly stunning graphics and more plot that previous versions have given moviegoers.
Yet another reboot of a popular action hero movie franchise, Robocop opens in theaters on Feb. 12. As before, the movie joins Detroit cop Alex Murphy, devoted husband and father, who gets fatally wounded in the line of duty but is saved (in a way) by being converted into a cyborg by a powerful mega corporation. The trailer is chock full of action, explosions, par for the course in a Robocop movie.
A reboot of the 1987 original film, Joel Kinnaman stars as Robocop, joined by Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Zach Grenier, Abbie Cornish and Miguel Ferrer, who starred in the 1987 original. If you’re a fan of this movie franchise, going by the trailer, you won’t be disappointed.
An ancient hero comes to live on the silver screen in Hercules: The Legend Begins set to open in theaters Jan. 10 of next year. Starring a ripped Kellan Lutz of Twilight fame, the plot revolves around Hercules learning his true identity and then having to choose between fleeing with his true love or fighting to overthrow the tyrannical leader of his land that’s filled with pain and hardship. Co-starring Scott Adkins, Liam McIntyre and Johnathon Schaech, the trailer portrays a primordial time of life and death duels and agony. For those moviegoers who enjoy medieval battles and bloody combat scenes, Hercules: The Legend Begins is right up your alley!
