The first official English language trailer for Hayao Miyazaki's latest and final film has finally arrived.

"The Wind Rises" is the newest film from Studio Ghibli and the acclaimed Japanese director. The film is a fictionalized biography of real-life Japanese engineer Jiro Horikoshi, who designed the Zero fighter plane.

This trailer shows off the gorgeous 2D animation style that Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki are known for. With 3D animation taking over in Hollywood it's nice to be reminded of the magic of hand drawn animation. The trailer has no dialogue and frankly it doesn't need any. Using only snippets from the film and lovely bit of music this trailer offers a glimpse of a story filled with wonder and joy. We see Jiro in various stages of his life and different experiences that he has.

I was on board with this trailer pretty much from the start. I always look forward to a new film from Miyazaki and while I'm very disappointed this film will be his last, I can't wait to check this one out.

"The Wind Rises" does not have an official U.S. release date, but is "coming soon."
