U2 is back with a new single, "Ordinary Love." The single is featured on the upcoming soundtrack for Long Walk to Freedom. Freedom is a biopic that tells the story of Nelson Mandela.
This is the first new release from U2 since 2010 but the band picks up right where they left off. "Ordinary Love," has the makings of a U2 classic. The single has moments of feeling epic, sweeping and very large but Bono's performance and heartfelt lyrics help to ground the larger than life single. The guitar work from The Edge is outstanding and influential.
U2 was allowed to see cuts of the upcoming film Long Walk to Freedom and that is what inspired the lyrics and instrumentals that create the full sounding inspirational anthem.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is set to open in theaters for a Nov. 29 limited release. Mandela will be played by Idris Elba. U2's first album of new material since 2009's No Line on the Horizon is currently set for April 2014.
