Wal-mart's website experienced a glitch Wednesday morning, which caused electronic items to list at $8.85, including computer monitors, projectors and kayaks that are regularly hundreds of dollars.
According to ABC's Good Morning America, the site featured a 24-inch high definition Viewsonic computer monitor and an InFocus IN2124 Projector, as well as other items for as low as $8.85. The projector is usually listed as $578.89 on Wal-mart.com and can be found at $579.99 on Newegg.com.
The items were sold out online within hours. While the company is still searching for internal technical errors, they assured that the site was not hacked.
In a statement, Wal-mart explained the situation. "We experienced a technical error that caused some items to show incorrect pricing. We are working quickly to correct the error and during this time, there may be intermittent site availability. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers."
Wal-mart did not address whether the customers who bought the items during the low-price glitch will have their charges honored, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. “We’re still working through those details and will follow up with customers,” said Wal-mart spokesman Ravi Jariwala.
