With print magazines becoming a dying breed, especially in the music industry, music website Pitchfork is set to release a quarterly print edition.
Pitchfork released an announcement on November 21 that they will run a “beautifully designed, limited-run publication” on high quality paper, meant to last over the long haul. The publication is named The Pitchfork Review, and set to debut on December 14.
Rolling Stone Magazine is still at the top of the game, with more genre specific magazines Alternative Press and Revolver Magazine coming in behind. With the supply-and-demand ethos, all three magazines have shrunk in size over the last year, with Revolver only producing 6 issues a year rather than 12. Spin Magazine has completely fazed out their print magazine, going completely web base. With the rise of readers going strictly to the web for their music news and information, many smaller magazines have already gone web based or went completely out of business.
The Hollywood Reporter reported The Pitchfork Review will be available by subscription and at select newsstands domestically and internationally. Single copies will be available for $19.96 in honor of the year that Pitchfork debuted, and for a subscription, the introductory rate will be $44.99.
