Wes Anderson has directed a short film for Prada about the Italian Formula 1 and naturally the director brought along Jason Schwartzman to star.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the nearly eight minute film is called Castello Cavalcanti and is an Italian film throwback. Prada said that film is "an extension of the cinematic scope of the Prada universe."
The short film has Schwartzman playing Formula 1 racing driver Jed Cavalcanti in the 1955 Molte Miglia race. Cavalcanti crashes his vehicle and ends up meeting several elderly people who could possibly be part of the driver's family.
The Los Angeles Times notes that though the film was done for Prada, there is only one visual reference. The film however, feels like an Anderson work through and through.
Anderson brought in costume designer Mileno Canonero and cinematographer Darius Khondji to help with that. The short film was shown off at the Rome Film Festival.
Anderson's next film The Grand Budapest Hotel, which Schwartzman appears in, is out in theaters March 7 and will premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in February.
