Will Smith is still interested in making The City That Sailed, a project he’d been attached to back in 2010. That has now been revived and Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy has signed to helm the project.

Deadline just reported that Levy has boarded the adventure film, which is set up at 20th Century Fox. The tentpole will be produced by Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook and Audrey Wells has written the script.

The plot has the island of Manhattan breaking off and floating out to sea, with a father and daughter still trapped on the island. According to IndieWire, the original log line back in 2010 involved a girl in London, who had caused the island to move.

When Smith was first attached in 2010, he had the choice of doing this first or Men In Black III. Although that film didn’t earn great reviews, it did make $179 million domestically. This year, Smith starred in the summer disappointment After Earth.

Levy has close ties with Fox, since his 21 Laps production banner is based there. His next project is a third Night at the Museum movie for Christmas 2014. That will get done first, of course, and there’s no word as to when production on The City That Sailed will start.
