Rapper Wiz Khalifa may sound like an unlikely collaborator with singer Adele, but he said during a recent interview that they are working together after meeting at the Grammys. While speaking with AXS TV’s Skee Live Tuesday, Khalifa also chatted about his new album, Blacc Hollywood.
The Pittsburgh native explained how he came up with the title, noting that it brings together two important parts of his life - his success and where he grew up. “The Hollywood part, of course, is like the success, the glitz, the glamour, the fun stuff,” Khlifa explained, reports Rap-Up. “And the Blacc is where we come from—not Pittsburgh the ‘hood, but Pittsburgh party, drinking at a very young age, tearing stuff up, staying up too late. It’s a lot of fun and it’s a lot of attitude.”
Khalifa also stressed that Blacc Hollywood will be much looser than his 2012 album, .O.N.I.F.C., since he doesn’t have any points to make. “I’m really taking my time and picking the records out,” he said.
As for the Adele collaboration, it came about after the “Skyfall” singer met his wife, Amber Rose. The two share one big thing in common: they are new parents. Khalifa and Rose welcomed a baby boy in February and Adele’s was born in October 2012.
Khalifa said after the meeting, her reps talked to his and “when they found out we were working on the album and sent some ideas through, so we were able to knock some things out,” notes Entertainmentwise.
Adele hasn’t released an album since her breakthrough, 2011’s 21, although she did record the Oscar-winning title song to the James Bond film Skyfall.
