Microsoft has acknowledged that a small percentage of those who purchased an Xbox One might suffer from a faulty disc drive.
According to PC Magazine some lucky enough to get their hands on day also face a chance that the disc drive on their Xbox One might not work.
The problem is readily apparent when inserting a disc into the drive and all that greets you is the sound of clicking and grinding. Some say their discs are not read at all. Upset users have gone to Reddit, Kotaku and Microsoft's Support Forum to complain.
Others have taken to writing their complaints on the Xbox One's Amazon page. One complaint reads: "[I] received my console on launch and after going through the setup everything seemed great. Played a few rounds of Killer Instinct but then really wanted to get down to it and popped in Dead Rising 3 but was greeted with what you hear in the video."
Microsoft released a statement to the gaming website IGN saying the drive is affecting "a very small number of Xbox One customers." The company asks that those affected contact Microsoft so that a replacement console can be sent out.
Microsoft sent the same statement to The Washington Post, continuing that "customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running."
Launch consoles are rarely without their issues. Sony has had a problem with their recently released Playstation 4 as well. Their problem involves the "Blue Light of Death" and is the result of not being able to properly connect to TV's through HDMI connections or by not turning on. Sony's issue is potentially correctable if one follows a guide.
Despite some issues, the Xbox One followed in the PS4's stead with strong sales of 1 million units in just 24 hours.
