Sony and director Marc Webb are not holding anything back. The first full trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 shows off the challenge Spider-Man faces as Electro plots his destruction.
In the trailer, we get a peek at several key plot elements, as Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield again, learns more secrets about his father and his work for Norman Osborn and OsCorp. Apparently, the company didn’t have the best intentions with Parker’s discoveries and now they’ve come back to haunt Peter.
There’s glimpses of Rhino, the new villain played by Paul Giamatti, but the focus is on Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. Clearly, Electro does not like Spider-Man and would much like to see the world without him.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is just the start for Sony and the Spider-Man franchise, as executives teased possible spin-offs. The new film hits theaters on May 2. The third and fourth films will be released in 2016 and 2018, respectively.
