A brawl involving 600 people broke out in a parking lot for a movie theater in Jacksonville, Fla. Five men, including three minors, have been arrested for their role in the fight on Christmas night.
The fight broke out at 8:30 p.m. at the Hollywood River City 14 theater, reports ABC News. Police said a group tried to rush into the theater without buying tickets and some went after an off-duty police officer working as a security guard.
The officer had to use pepper spray in order get the group to move away from the theater so he could lock the doors. Then, “upward of 600 people moving throughout a parking lot about the size of a football field began fighting, disrupting and jumping on cars,” Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lauri-Ellen Smith said.
“It is a very unfortunate incident,” City Councilman Ray Holt told the Jacksonville Times-Union. “I am glad they were able to get so many officers in to control the situation and they did a very good job.”
Smith said that 62 police officers were called to the scene to contain the situation. There were no gunshots and only minor injuries and damage to property.
Five teens were arrested and charged for their roles in the fight and arrested on the scene. Police released the names of three of the suspects - Tevyn Alonza Davis, 19; Khalil Ahmad Bradley, 17; and Jaquade Marquis Miller, 18. All three were charged with felonies, while two minors were charged with misdemeanors.
