ABC had decided it will be changing up the way people can watch their shows online, limiting the first week to only those with a paid subscription through certain TV service providers.

According to the WatchABCGo website, the change will begin on Jan. 6 and for those not subscribed to the small list of TV providers, you are out of luck until the following week. Some TV service providers listed include Cox Communications, AT&T U-verse, Comcast XFINITY and Verizon FiOS.

Variety reports that the same will be true for anyone who used to watch new episodes of ABC shows next day for free through Hulu. New episodes will be restricted to those with paid Hulu subscriptions. The move is similar to the one that Fox made a couple years ago.

A rep noted the network began "doing some education about this to users on the ABC.com website and via the app" over the last few weeks.

"Pay TV service providers are a key part of the television industry in delivering broadcast content through new technology," An ABC FAQ notes, reports GigaOM.

Some names missing from the list of TV service providers include DirecTV, Time Warner Cable and DISH.
