Aron Ralston, the rock climber who amputated his own arm, wrote a book about his ordeal and inspired 127 Hours, has been arrested for assault in Denver.
According to Colorado’s 9 News, Ralston, 38, was arrested Saturday night and booked at the Denver jail. He was charged with assault and wrongs to minors.
The Associated Press reports that Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez could not give any further details until she speaks with a domestic violence detective.
Back in 2003, Ralston had to amputate his own arm after he was trapped in a Utah canyon alone. He wrote about the ordeal in a book, titled Between a Rock and a Hard Place, reports Reuters. It was later adapted into the Danny Boyle film 127 Hours. He was played by James Franco, who earned an Oscar nomination for his performance. The film itself was nominated for five other awards, including Best Picture.
It’s not clear if he has an attorney, as none was listed on his booking documents. He’ll be due in court on Monday.
