The Mega Millions might be offering a $636 million jackpot in Tuesday’s drawing, but it doesn’t quite break any records despite its monumental number.

The huge jackpot is $20 million less than the record of $656 million in 2012. However, if the winner chooses the cash payout, they will be $341.2 million richer.

USA Today notes if no one wins tonight or Friday, there could be a whopping $1 billion jackpot possibility for Christmas Eve.

It started out as $12 million in October and has since rolled over 21 consecutive times. As we previously reported, no one won the $425 million jackpot on Friday night, which caused it to go up to $550 million.

We've never had a jackpot at this level in December leading into the holidays," Paula Otto, Virginia Lottery's executive director and Mega Millions' lead director, told the AP. "If we keep rolling, we could well be at a billion dollars going into Christmas."
