Banksy's works keep selling for high numbers, with the latest one being no exception. A mural done on a Hollywood gas station wall that was removed brought in $209,000 at auction.
"Flower Girl" was purchased by an anonymous bidder at Julien's Auctions on Thursday, Reuters reports. The work, which was done in 2008, remains on a 9-by-8-foot slab of gas station brick wall and weighs nearly four tons.
The mural depicts a young girl holding a basket and looking up at a surveillance camera that is on top of a flower stem.
Julien's Auctions Executive Director Martin Dolan said in a statement, "Banksy has been one of our most provocative yet entertaining subjects to auction to date." He added, "The excitement in the room when Flower Girl went up for auction was electrifying."
The Banksy mural went up for bid among almost 100 other works at the auction house, according to The Associated Press. Eytan Rosenberg, a former gas station owner, had the piece put up for auction.
He sold the gas station that "Flower Girl" originally was done on, but he had the wall with the mural removed and kept in an aluminum frame.
Banksy's "Slave Labor" remains the highest sold piece to go at auction; the piece was sold in June and went for $1.1 million.
