Beats Electronics, the company that is known for making Beats by Dre, has plans to launch their own subscription music service in January.

CNET announced that the streaming service will be similar to that of Spotify or Deezer but will focus on combining algorithms with curated programming from tastemakers.

Ian Rogers, chief executive of Beats Music wrote a blog post about the upcoming service, detailing that after private alpha and beta testing it will launch in January. The company also added in this post that certain artists had already been given access to the product so they could become familiar with it and provide user feedback.

Beats was at one point talking with Apple about their streaming service, but those discussions have come to an end, The Guardian reported.

Beats will have a lot of competition in this space, it was also announced that YouTube is planning a premium streaming service, which would combine the best of Spotfiy technology and music videos.

No word yet on when in January the product will launch.
