Brad Pitt is being looked at to join Tom Cruise for car-racing flick Go Like Hell based off of A. J. Baime's book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans.

Pitt was previously attached to the film project back in 2009 when Michael Mann was slated to direct the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the possible casting. Though the movie stalled, he has remained interested in the project.

Joseph Kosinski is currently at the helm of the movie. Lucas Foster and Alex Young are producing.

Cruise, who previously has worked with Kosinski for Oblivion, is set to star as car designer Carroll Shelby. The script is currently being worked on by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley.

Go Like Hell is about the competition between Enzo Ferrari and the Ford Motor Company up to and during the 1966 Le Mans race.

Brad Pitt turns 50 this week and is featured on a mock special edition cover of AARP. The cover says, "Acclaimed Actor, Producer, Humanitarian, and Family Man, Mr. Pitt Joins the Club."
