Britney Spears' latest album Britney Jean did not do well in the album's first week of release.
Her album sold only 107,000 copies for a weak fourth place start on the Billboard 200, making it her weakest opening numbers and chart spot, reports CNN. The album was even beaten out by her debut ...Baby One More Time, which sold 121,000 in the first week.
The numbers are also less than half of what she sold for her 2011 album Femme Fatale, which managed to sell 276,000 copies for its first week.
Because of her weak numbers, Spears was outdone by Garth Brooks who hit No. 1 with his box set Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences, in its second week on the chart, Billboard reports. It sold 146,000 copies, keeping up with first week sales of 164,000 copies.
The jump from third to first put Brooks into rare company with the Rolling Stones and Barbara Streisand, who now all are tied with nine No. 1 albums.
Midnight Memories, One Direction's latest album, fell to No. 2 for its second week with 117,000 in sold copies. The Kelly Clarkson holiday album Wrapped In Red moved up to third with 112,000 copies sold.
