The man who put down his McDonald’s meal to help rescue three women that had been missing for over a decade will be getting a memoir through publisher David Gray & Co. Charles Ramsey signed the deal on Thursday.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight escaped their captor, Ariel Castro, thanks to Ramsey. Berry’s 6-year-old daughter was also with them.

Ramsey won’t be authoring his book alone. He will have help from freelance writer Randy Nyerges according to Reuters.

“What you saw on TV doesn’t even begin to tell the story,” said Ramsey.

Ramsey and Nyerges have already started work on the book. “Charles says outrageous things, but what a story he has,” Nyerges said. “America doesn’t know yet how truly brilliant this guy is.”

“He’s completely unfiltered,” Gray said notes the Clevene Plain Dealer. “I think that’s part of his appeal. He says what he thinks. I am really intrigued by him — as a person, with the story he had to tell, and with his ability to tell it.”

Ramsey helped rescue Amanda Berry from Ariel Castro’s house once he heard screaming coming from the building. He was immediately hailed a hero and his entertaining personality made him a hit with TV viewers.

Ramsey is best known for this line from his TV interview: “When a little pretty white girl ran into a black man’s arms, something was wrong.”

The book will be published next spring as well as a memoir from Knight through Weinstein Books. Berry and DeJesus are working together on a book with Viking scheduled to come out in 2015.
