Joel and Ethan Coen have been doing many interviews lately to promote Inside Llewyn Davis and keep bringing up projects they’d like to tackle next. It could be a sword-and-sandals epic in Ancient Rome or a musical comedy. It might even be Hail Caesar, a project that would reunite him with George Clooney.
During an interview with Thompson on Hollywood, the two were asked about the project which would have starred Clooney as a 1920s movie star trying to make a movie about Rome, reports Indiewire.
“We've been working on that one,” Joel told the site. “It's about the movie business and life and religion and faith. Faith and the movie business,” Ethan added, noting that Clooney is still linked to it.
“There's a good chance that would be next,” Joel added.
Last week, the Coens mentioned that a musical comedy was a possible project, but it sounds like any project dealing with rome may be their next film. The Fargo filmmakers did tell the Associated Press that they are writing a “sandal movie.”
The Coens worked with Clooney on O Brother Where Art Thou? in 2000 and Intolerable Cruelty in 2003.
Meanwhile, Inside Llewyn Davis just opened in New York and Los Angeles and is expected to open in more theaters on Dec. 20.
