In a week of musical surprises Dave Matthews and Jakob Dylan have formed a “supergroup” together called The Nauts.
Mix Online reported Matthews and Dylan are joined by his father Bob Dylan’s guitarist Charlie Sexton, his brother Will Sexton, and drummer Brady Blade. Blade took the lead bringing everyone together first as a casual jam session which quickly sparked ideas to put an actual band together. The Nauts are currently working on the album at Blade’s Blade Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Rolling Stone reported Matthews is also working on a new album with his DMB with producer Rob Cavallo who helmed the band’s 2009 album Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King.
"I've been in the studio trying to get a couple of things ready for the band to go back in, having fun," Matthews says. "I'm just trying to come up with something that doesn't sound like the past."
The Dave Matthews Band recently played in Matthews’ hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa on December 3 at the Coca Cola Dome. DMB also played Cape Town on November 30 and December 1, where on the first night they covered the song “Sugar Man” from Sixto Rodriguez, who was the subject of the Oscar winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man.
