After their 11-show Las Vegas residency with the show Viva! Hysteria, Def Leppard are already planning another residency playing their breakthrough album Pyromania in its entirety.
Guitarist Phil Collen recently told Billboard that their Viva! Hysteria residency at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas was “amazing” and they are looking to do Viva! Pyromania at some point in 2014.
The 1983 certified Diamond, or 10 times Platinum, record produced such classics as “Rock of Ages,” “Photograph,” and title track “Pyromania.” This was the first album for Colleen, who replaced original guitarist Pete Willis who was fired for substance abuse.
Producing the two classic albums, Pyromania and Hysteria, any follow up album is difficult for the band and as guitarist Vivian Campbell it’s a tricky balance to move forward with their sound but remembering to give fans what they want. Their current plan is to record much of their material live, like they did with 1996’s album Slang.
Fans that didn’t make it out to Vegas for the band’s Viva! Hysteria shows are now in luck. According to Rolling Stone, a Viva! Hysteria concert film will make its debut on AXS TV on December 29, with the Def Leppard providing commentary on the film. Labeled “A Day of Hysteria”, AXS TV are letting the band control a 12 hour block of programming which will include the 35th anniversary of Cheap Trick’s concert film Live at Budokan, and other films from bands Kiss, Bon Jovi, and the New York Dolls.
"A Day of Hysteria" will begin at 8 p.m. EST on December 29th.
