Yash Raj Films’ action film Dhoom 3 made $9.5 million dollars worldwide on its opening day. The film opened on more than 236 screens.
The film has been doing very well in India and the success is starting to translate to other countries. i>Dhoom 3is a motorbike, action thriller movie that is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. The movie brought in $6.1 million in India and another $3.44 million in other countries around the globe, Variety reported.
The action thriller broke records in North America as well. Dhroom 3 made over $1.1 million in North America, which is a Bollywood film record for North America.
In Australia the film took in $172,00 and in the U.K. it made $400,000.
The movie also has another record, Dhoom 3 is the first Bollywood movie to do over $1 million on its opening day, Deadline reported. Furthermore, the film also scored the highest opening gross for any Indian movie.
Dhoom 3 stars Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Katrina Kaif.
