Disney has reached a new all-time high at the domestic box office, breaking its previous record that was set in 2012. In 2012, Disney made $1.547 billion at the domestic box office and the studio has surpassed this number in 2013.

Disney released films like Iron Man 3, Frozen Monsters University and Thor 2: The Dark World this year which helped to break the box office record.

Disney and Marvel also have the top grossing film of 2013 with Iron Man 3 starring Robert Downey Jr. The comic book hero film made over $1.215 billion worldwide, including $409 million at the United States box office.

Alan Horn, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, spoke about the success that Disney experienced this year. “We had an incredible collection of films in 2013, and our teams here and around the world worked very hard to bring these wonderful experiences to audience. As a result, we are having a banner year at the domestic, international, and global box office, and we are very proud of this tremendous accomplishment and the people who made it possible," said Horn.

Deadline reported that Disney is still not done making money for 2013, the animated picture Frozen is still in theaters and Saving Mr. Banks is set to be released on Dec. 20. Thor: The Dark World is also currently in theaters.
