Walt Disney Studios recently negotiated with Paramount Pictures for the rights for future Indiana Jones movies, but don't expect a new movie to be churned out right away.
Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn spoke with Variety at its Dealmakers Breakfast on Friday and he said, "We haven't done anything" and that it would be at least a few years down the road before a new movie could be released.
He added, "We don't have a story. We need a story."
Horn elaborated that Disney didn't look into scripts or making a new movie until the studio had locked up the rights it needed. "It didn't make sense to produce the movie at Disney and then have it be distributed and marketed by Paramount."
Any future Indiana Jones movie will be produced Disney's last acquisition Lucasfilm, which is of course wrapped up in production for Star Wars: Episode VII.
As previously reported, Disney managed to secure the rights with Paramount for the distribution and marketing rights for any future and current Indiana Jones films.
Paramount is still involved with the franchise as the movie studio "will receive a financial participation on any future films that are produced and released."
