Don Cheadle confirmed he will be bringing his Iron Man character James Rhodes/War Machine to help in the fight against Ultron in the upcoming Marvel’s The Avengers sequel.
Cheadle spoke with USA Today about his Golden Globe nomination for Showtime’s House Of Cards and confirmed, along with his directorial debut and starring in the biopic for Miles Davis, that one of his upcoming projects will be Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron.
Screen Crush also suggests that the news of the appearance of the long-time friend of Tony Stark, may also mean Stark is the creator of Ultron. Following the original comic book storyline, Rhodes tries to help Stark improve the Iron Man technology.
News of Cheadle’s appearance is a surprise to the ever-increasing cast of Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron. In late November the announcement , and confirmation, to the long rumored appearance of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch increased the superhero cast to eight. With creator Joss Whedon’s affinity to kill off characters though, Screen Crush implied that War Machine, who played a large part in Iron Man 3 could be next.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is due to start shooting here in the UK next year, with a summer 2015 release date planned.
