Despite the tragic passing of star Paul Walker in a car crash Saturday night, Universal has decided that the production on Fast & Furious 7 will be delayed, but not canceled.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a meeting of Universal heads happened on Sunday morning and they decided to place the movie on hiatus.
Shooting was scheduled to resume on Sunday after the cast and crew enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday. Executives and director James Wan met to talk about how best to proceed with the film and what rewrites would need to be done, but their exact plans are not yet known.
"All of us at Universal are heartbroken," a statement from a studio spokesperson said. "Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans."
A Facebook post said, "We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time."
