Now that 2013 is nearly over, movie fans can start focusing on what will be the best of 2014. Acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher will be back after two years off with Gine Girl, which stars Ben Affleck and is based on Gillian Flynn’s popular novel. 20th Century Fox released the first image from the film on Friday.
The studio posted a still that shows Affleck standing beside a missing persons poster for his wife, who has gone missing. Affleck plays Nick Dunne, a man who is the top suspect in his wife’s disappearance. His wife is played by Jack Reacher actress Rosamund Pike.
Other members of the cast include “Blurred Lines” model Emily Ratajkowski, Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Carrie Coon.
Fincher has been working on the movie for the past year. The book was originally optioned by Reese Witherspoon under her Pacific Standard banner and the film will be released by Fox.
It has been scheduled for Oct. 3, 2014, which is a prime date for films with Oscar aspirations.
Gone Girl is Fincher’s first film since 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. His other credits include Fight Club and The Social Network.
