A terminally ill child who inspired thousands to sing in the streets has died.
Delaney “Laney” Brown, of West Reading, Pennsylvania suffered from acute myeloid leukemia. According to HLN, doctors told the eight-year-old’s family last week that she had 70 percent cancer cells in her blood.
A statement posted on the Team Laney Facebook page Wednesday morning said, "She took her last breath at home in her bed at 3:10 surrounded by all her family and friends."
Brown loved music and dancing. Her dying wish was to have people stop by her house for a night of caroling.
WFMZ reported that on Saturday night first hundreds, than thousands showed up at her house and sang. Her dance team was also there to honor her wish and Santa even showed up.
The little girl was too weak to come to the window, but she heard the singing and posted the message "I can hear you now!!! Love you!" on Facebook.
After her passing, many carolers expressed their gratitude on social media saying the Laney "inspired" and "showed everyone the true meaning of Christmas."
