MGM and Paramount announced that Hot Tub Time Machine 2, the sequel to 2010’s Hot Tub Time Machine, will be arriving sometime in 2014. The official release date has not been set yet, and the plot of the film will revolve around Lou, the character portrayed by Rob Corddry. Craig Robinson and Clark Duke will be returning to reprise their roles of Nick and Jacob.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the big news coming out of this is actor John Cusack will not be reprising his role as Adam. They have casted Adam Scott to replace John Cusack, as he will be playing the older son of Cusack’s character from the first film. The premise of the original film focuses on four men going on a ski trip and they are sent back in time to the 80s in the bodies of their younger selves. When we watch these men retrace their steps the second times around, it involves many laughs, including watching them figure out how they are going to get back to the future.
The sequel, will focus on the guys being transported to the future rather than the past, reports Cinema Blend. The current plot that has been released talks about Lou getting into trouble and the guys decide to use the hot tub time machine in order to go to the past. They inadvertently arrive in the future, and then they have to alter their future in order to save the past, which is actually the present.
Early reports say that the film could be released in March 2014, which would be slightly ahead of schedule. The official release date of the film will probably come sometime after the New Year. The boys will be returning to the hot tub before we know it!
