Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa is reportedly in talks for an unknown role in the Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, which first confirmed the news, the studio is keeping such a tight lip on the film’s plot that it’s not currently known how Momoa would fit in. The site speculates that the well-built actor could play the villain Doomsday, who infamously ‘killed’ Superman in 1992.
Another source for the site notes that he could the Martian Manhunter, the shape-shifting last survivor of Mars and a member of the Justice League. Considering that we already know it will feature more heroes than just Superman and Batman, that sounds like a possibility as well.
The news comes less than a week after the studio confirmed that actress Gal Gadot is playing Wonder Woman in the new film. The Israeli-native is a newcomer to films, but has appeared in the Fast & Furious franchise.
As for Momoa, he is best known for his role as Khal Drogo in the first Game of Thrones season and also starred in the 2011 version of Conan the Barbarian. He’s working on several small projects now, including an action movie called Wolves.
Batman vs. Superman opens on July 17, 2015 with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill in the title roles. Zack Snyder is directing.
