Jeremy Renner will be returning to the Avengers team as Hawk Eye for the upcoming sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. The sequel is set to be released on May 1, 2015.

Rumors had started that Renner was unhappy with how his character was handled by Joss Whedon and how Hawk Eye was featured in the first Avengers. Rumors surfaced again in May that he might be recast in his role, Yahoo reported.

In a recent interview Renner was asked if he would return to his role and he responded with, "yes of course!" Comic Book Movie was one of the first sights to report the news.

The rest of the main cast is signed on to star in the upcoming sequel.

The first Avengers film featured all of the main marvel characters teaming up to save New York City. The movie featured, Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America and Thor. The film was widely received by critics and broke box office records, making over $623,357,910 in total revenue, reported Box Office Mojo.
