After news arose Monday that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in talks to produce Neil Gaiman's Sandman comic with David Goyer, the actor stepped forward through Twitter to confirm the news.

The Don Jon director confirmed to fans on Twitter that he was indeed going to be involved in the Sandman movie, reports the New York Daily News.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm incredibly honored to be working with David Goyer, Warner Bros and @neilhimself on SANDMAN."

As previously reported, it had also been noted that Gordon-Levitt could possibly also direct and star in the film, but he followed his initial confirmation with another tweet where he downplayed that as it's still early days yet.

"Just to clarify, folks. I've signed on as a producer on Sandman. The rest remains to be seen. Delighted you guys are excited. I am too!"

Daily News notes that the first tweet mentioning Gaiman himself is good news as he previously said on the comic being adapted in 2007 to Mania.com: "I'd rather see no Sandman movie made than a bad Sandman movie."

Sandman was published from 1989 to 1996 and in 1991 through 1993, won consecutive Eisner Awards for best continuing series.
