Lionsgate, fresh off a record breaking Thanksgiving holiday weekend, is in talks to back a Hillary Clinton biopic, called Rodham.
According to Deadline, who first learned of the news, the film would focus on the earlier years of Hillary.
The script was written by Young Il Kim and was part of the 2012 Black List about promising scripts not yet made into a film. The Spectacular Now director James Ponsoldt is interested in making this project his follow up film.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the film would follow Hillary when she was Hillary Rodham and was a young lawyer part of the President Richard Nixon impeachment. The script shows Hillary struggling to decide if she wants to focus on her career or pursue a relationship with a young Bill Clinton.
Ponsoldt has met with a few actresses to play the role of Rodham, including Carey Mulligan, but no one has been chosen yet. The news follows only a short time after two TV projects, one at CNN and the other at NBC, which were also going to be on Hillary, that fell through.
