Lionsgate has decided to re-title their upcoming Hercules epic staring Kellan Lutz. The film will be called The Legend of Hercules rather than Hercules: The Legend Begins.
Variety added that the studio also decided to move up the release date by a month, picking Jan. 10th for the movie to hit theaters. The film, which stars the former Twilight actor will debut six months before Paramount opens Hercules, starring Dwayne Johnson.
Johnson’s Hercules will be directed by Brett Ratner, reported Entertainment Weekly. That movie will be released in July 2014.
Lionsgate will release “The Legend of Hercules” through its Summit label, which also released the Twilight films. The action packed movie will be released in both 2D and 3D.
The Legend of Hercules is being directed by Renny Harlin and the screenplay was written by Daniel Giat. Legend will focus on the story of Hercules and his love story with Princess Hebe.
