A 35-year-old man jumped from a high-rise apartment building in Lincoln Square on Sunday while holding a small child. The 3 or 4 year old is believed to be the man’s son and neither of them survived the fall.

According to the NY Daily News, the Fire Department received a call around noon claiming that a person had fallen from a building on West 60th Street. Paramedics found the body of the man, who has yet to be identified as well as a small child who was still alive when they arrived but was in critical condition.

The child was taken to Roosevelt Hospital but pronounced dead not long after. The child has not been identified notes The New York Times.

It is still not known what floor the pair jumped from but spectators claim the pair had to have been high up. One witness said they saw the bodies pass by her window on the 29th floor.

Another witness who works in the nearby hospital said he “heard a boom! The sound, the way it sounded, they must've jumped from high up."
