Texas-based guitarist, Mark Lettier, has released his latest album, Futurefun.
Lettier start playing the guitar at the age of 11 and was inspired by listening to the music of one of the greatest guitars to ever live, Jimi Hendrix. When a main influence is Hendrix and music has been a part of ones life since being young, it is no surprise that Lettier really showcases his musical talent and the passion he has for guitar music on this album.
Futurefun is far removed from the music world Lettier used to be a part of. He did regular work with Snark Puppy, a jazz-funk dance band.
With this album he went in the direction of simply showcasing what he could do with a guitar in his hand.
Futurefun was produced and written to the be second part of a musical evolution that was started with Lettier's first album, Knows. Futurefun is a continuation of what Lettier had created on Knows, which is an album that puts the guitar instrumentals first and lets each chord of the guitar tell the story.
Fans can tell that Lettier is not only musically in tuned with his guitar but that is thinking through each note. From start to finish Lettier has the makings of a true musician.
Stand out tracks on the album include, "Catboy," "Futurefun" and "Stinger."
