Miley Cyrus is championing the campaign to "Free the Nipple" from American censorship. The 21-year-old pop singer tweeted a picture of herself with her shirt up (with nipple covers) to support the freedom nipple cause.
Merry Christmas ❤️❤️ THANK YOU NY for being one of the few states to @freethenipple pic.twitter.com/ouXhlBrXVW

Free the Nipple campaign began when activists became appalled by the odium surrounding the female body. The campaign aims to "decriminalize the female body" and "protest the backwards censorshop laws in the US," according to The Huffington Post .
Cyrus commented on the absurdly stringent censorship protocol when watching the hit series Breaking Bad "They bleeped out the word 'f--k.' And I'm like, really? They killed a guy, and disintegrated his body in acid, but you're not allowed to say 'f--k?'"
According to Billboard Free the Nipple will be a documentary exploring the censorship in the US media. Activists feel that the female body is degraded and is considered more obscene than violence (as violence in the media is less censored than the female body). New York is the first state to embrace Free the Nipples .
