In a twist of events, the New Jersey waitress who accused a family of refusing to leave her a tip on account of her sexuality has lost her job at Gallop Asian Bistro.
After an investigation concluded that former Marine Dayna Morales’ story did not add up, she was terminated, her manager has confirmed.
Last month, the receipt she posted went viral, which showed the message “I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and how you live your life” written on it. The family then refuted the story, which spurred an investigation into the matter.
A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page notes that the investigation remains “inconclusive” but they have decided amicably that Morales would no longer work there.
“Despite news reports to the contrary, this is not a simple, straight-forward matter and we have conducted our own internal investigation. The results of that investigation are inconclusive as to exactly what happened between Ms. Morales and the customers that night. However, in light of the investigation and recent events, both Ms. Morales and Gallop Asian Bistro have made a joint decision that Ms. Morales will no longer continue her employment at our restaurant. We wish her well in the future,” the message reads.
They also called this “an unfortunate incident for Gallop Asian Bistro, our employees, and our customers.”
