Director Peter Berg recently was asked about the long-hoped for Friday Night Lights movie and he made his thoughts on the matter pretty clear, which won't be good for fans.
Berg, who is currently doing press for his upcoming movie Lone Survivor, spoke with Collider about the TV show returning in the form of a movie. He responded simply, "There's not gonna be a movie."
He continued, "We talked about it, some people thought it was a good idea, some didn't; I've come to believe it's probably not a good idea and I seriously doubt it's gonna happen."
In October, Connie Britton claimed that the movie was only being held up by show star Kyle Chandler. Her thoughts were fairly similar to Berg's in that people were divided on a movie, but she placed most of the issues on Chandler.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chandler said of the issue, "My general attitude about Friday Night Lights is that it was a great movie with Billy Bob Thornton. And it was a great TV show." He also noted that he felt the show went out on a great note.
Scott Porter, who also was on the show said he would "put 50/50 odds" on the movie happening. His worry was that any movie wouldn't be able to top the show.
