Just a few months after joining the Pixies, bassist and backup vocalist Kim Shattuck announced she is leaving the band.
Shattuck took to Facebook and Twitter Friday to reveal her decision. "Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today," she wrote. "Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on The Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone."
According to Ace Showbiz, 50-year-old Shattuck joined the Pixies in July after founding bassist Kim Deal left the group. Shattuck had previously played with The Pandoras and The Muffs.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Pixies will begin touring in North America in January with over two dozen concerts scheduled in Canada and the United States in a lineup that will last two months. The veteran punk band's latest album, EP-1, was released in September and introduced four new songs.
There is currently no word on who will replace Shattuck on bass.
