Alvin Schwartz's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is being transformed into a motion picture film.
Deadline reports that Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the writers of the last four Saw films, pitched an adaptation of the novel to CBS.
The collection of short stories will be told by teenagers who are overcoming their fears to save their town when their nightmares come to life.
Sean Daniel and Jason Brown of Sean Daniel Company and Elizabeth Grave of 1212 Entertainment are set to produce, with Roberto Grande and Joshua Long serving as executive producers.
Schwartz collected the Scary Stories tales from different folklore and urban legends. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was released in 1981, and was followed by More Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark in 1984, and Scary Stories 3: More Tales To Chill Your Bones in 1991.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Ross, CBS Films vice president, and Alex Ginno, creative executive, are overseeing the project.
