The guitarist for the band School of Seven Bells Benjamin Curtis passed away on Sunday at the age of 35.
The band's Facebook page confirmed Curtis' death from cancer. "While we had hoped to delay this announcement until a more suitable time when his friends and family could feel better prepared and settled to greet and correspondences from folks attempting to reach out, unfortunately the news has prematurely leaked."
According to The Guardian, Curtis was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma earlier this year in February. Several musical artists, including the Strokes, Polyphonic Spree, Paul Banks of Interpol and Devendra Banhart looked to try and raise money through a benefit concert to help pay for his treatment.
According to The Associated Press, Curtis first was a part of the bands Secret Machines and Tripping Daisy. He then decided to form another band, School of Seven Bells, with his two sisters Claudia and Alejandra Deheza.
